Fua Dia Congo presents this year's performance of the popular Congolese dance theater Malaki Matanga at the Alice Arts Center Theater, 1428 Alice Street in Downtown Oakland on Saturday, December 4, 1999 at 8 p.m. and ODC Theatre, 3153 17th Street in San Francisco on December 5, 1999 at 3 pm. According to the production's Artistic Director, Malonga Casquelourd and choreographer, Massengo Constant, Malaki Matanga is a full length theatrical dance production creating a collage out of central African sacred dance, mime, music and poetry based on the stories of the dances themselves and the African heritage This year's production will premiere the highly innovative Congolese dance-drumming Return To Work The Earth.

Malaki Matanga features an enviable cast of over thirty-five exceptional African dance-drumming professionals drawn from the past and present of Fua's illustrious performance history.

Fua Dia Congo is a renowned Oakland based non-profit performing arts company dedicated to broadening access to African cultural arts in communities across the United States.
